What We Do

The traditional model of publication in academia is changing and public scholarship is becoming a larger part of that model.  The Ratty curates stories of graduate research. Grad students carry out interesting research throughout their time in school, but more often than not they are not provided the opportunity to share their accomplishments with the public. Most programs at most institutions do not emphasize the importance of public scholarship or provide the necessary training. The Ratty intends to fill this gap by providing both a public platform for grad students to share their research beyond the boundaries of their primary field of study as well as expert editing to help guide them.

Of course our name is inspired by the dining hall, but it is also a shortened form of Research and Transformation. There are many ways to present research and we want to provide the opportunity to explore all of these different methods. Think of this as a place to practice public scholarship and expand the reach of your research.
